Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year or Happy Year of the Ox/ Cow.
Everything in Japan is going well, the weather is cool but not really cold and training is fantastic as always. The theme for the year is developing and Sensei is talking a lot about the rope and the idea of connection through this idea of the rope. Sensei has mentioned at the first class of the year that he plans to build another Hombu, like a Mecca of the Bujinkan and is now taking donations for it.
As you can see in the picture the scroll for the year is Sei No Kon Ki and refers to ability, spirit or soul and capacity or calibre of a person however it can be read many ways and interpreted many ways. There have been many discussions about it at training and Sensei has said that these things are vital for anyone, not just a martial artist.
The Jiraiya TV series is now out on DVD and Sensei has explained that he has hidden many secrets or gokui about training in them and is recommending we watch them.
Nagato Sensei has changed his training time; as of February he will be doing Mondays and Wednesdays at Hombu from 2.30 pm. The plum blossom is just starting and the year is off to a great start I wish you and your family a joyful and successful 2009.
